The class aims to provide culturally appropriate health information and resources for LGBTQIA+ populations and the librarians and health care practitioners who support them. We have done our best to use culturally sensitive language and examples recognizing that language on this topic, like gender and sexuality, can be fluid.  Providing access to health information for and about these populations is extremely important.

Love Data Week provides us all with an opportunity to learn about data, how to make good use of it, and to recognize its importance across all that we do. The NNLM is offering programs on supporting data management, data visualization, and data tools. Pick from  a variety of events and workshops to learn a little something about data the week of February 14 - 18, 2022!

Numeracy  is the ability to access, use, interpret, and communicate mathematical information and ideas, to engage in and manage mathematical demands of a range of situations in adult life. (CDC, 2021).  Numeracy literacy can be a challenge not only for individuals receiving health information, but also for those providing information. This 90 minute/1.5 credit hour webinar is an introduction to communicating numerical health information.

This interactive, narrated tutorial provides a tour of the MedlinePlus website and explains why MedlinePlus is a trusted reference when answering health information questions.

This tutorial takes about 1 hour to complete.

Many of us spend 40 or more hours a week at work, so it is unsurprising that the workplace affects our mental health and well-being. The first half of this 1-hour webinar will look at improving workplace mental health and wellbeing following the U.S. Surgeon General framework of 5 essential components for workplace mental health and wellbeing. The second half will explore the eight dimensions of health from SAHMSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) we can use as individuals to improve our mental health and well-being.

This on-demand course, offered through the NNLM Moodle platform, provides answers and allows participants to engage with exercises to practice what you learn.

Join NLM staff for a highlight tour summarizing the annual updates for Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).

Every year, updates are made to MeSH, the NLM controlled vocabulary thesaurus used for indexing articles for PubMed and for cataloging books and other resources. This annual webinar aims to introduce those changes and provide examples of how the changes may affect you as a PubMed searcher. For more information about MeSH, see the MeSH homepage.

The NCDS short course provides an opportunity to grow in special topics of data librarianship and services. The topic changes annually, and it is based on trending areas of importance to health information professionals.

The target audience can consist of those who have no experience with data services as well as experienced practitioners. The short course is typically offered in the spring.

The NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy that will go into effect in January 2023 will require funded researchers to submit a plan outlining how scientific data from their research will be managed and shared. This session is intended for information professionals who are unfamiliar with this policy and will review the policy components and how you can prepare to address the policy at your institution.
