Health Literacy! It Just Got Graphic!
Presented by Jamie Stanfield, Business & Health Librarian, University of Southern Mississippi
Poor health literacy affects healthcare decision making. Medical jargon can be frightening and some carry stigmas. Lengthy texts can confuse more than help someone looking to understand their healthcare journey. Graphic Medicine can provide a bridge to more difficult texts. Join us for an interactive workshop where we will discuss graphic medicine for all ages and learn tips to help others become more health literate. You will learn how these works can help decrease social stigmas related to certain medical diagnoses. This workshop is beneficial for healthcare workers, health sciences librarians, and anyone with a general interest in their health literacy.
