Introduction to Precision Medicine

Introduction to Precision Medicine is an introductory, on-demand course for public librarians. This class is designed to introduce learners to the concept of precision medicine, the NIH All of Us Research Program (All of Us), and how All of Us contributes to advancing precision medicine. This course will provide the learner with resources to support patrons with questions or concerns about precision medicine and related health topics.

Precision medicine considers three aspects of life: biology, environment, and lifestyle specific to family health history and genetic makeup. This course will focus more on topics related to the third aspect, such as genetics testing and how it relates to precision medicine in the context of All of Us Research Program. 

Designed for librarians/public librarians/general public with interest in precision medicine. No prior knowledge and skills required.

Objectives

After completion of the course, learners will be able to:

1. Define precision medicine

2. Identify three examples of precision medicine.

3. Describe the All of Us Research Program is and how it advances precision medicine.

4. Identify resources for patrons about precision medicine and the All of Us Research Program.
