Please note: This webinar is restricted to individuals in Region 4 (AZ, ID, CO, MT, NM, ND, SD, UT, WY). This webinar is a preview of an upcoming six-week online course on generative AI for health science librarians. Each module of the course will be introduced, with samples from the video lectures.
Topics include:
- Understanding the technology behind generative AI
- Prompting for large language models
- Multimodal features for educational use
- Capabilities of multimedia generation (images, video, music, speech)
- Staying current and avoiding the hype about AI
- Applications of generative AI in healthcare and medicine including ethical issues such as bias, copyright, and privacy protection
In addition to previewing course content, questions will be answered about formats, assignments, readings, and suggested time needed per week to complete the course.
About the Speaker
Nicole Hennig is an expert in instructional design, user experience, and emerging technologies. She is currently an e-learning developer and AI education specialist at the University of Arizona Libraries. Previously, she worked for the MIT Libraries as head of the user experience department. In her 14 years of experience at MIT, she won awards for innovation and worked to keep academics up to date with the best new technologies. She is the author of several books, including Keeping Up with Emerging Technologies, Apps for Librarians, and Siri, Alexa, and Other Digital Assistants.

- Have an understanding of the key topics and modules that will be covered in the six-week online course.
