Supporting Health Literacy and Basic Needs Services at the Millers Falls Branch Library

This project seeks to improve health literacy in the town of Montague and to provide the technology necessary to facilitate basic needs consultations, telehealth appointments, and accurate health information in a semi-private, public space. These goals will be accomplished by providing self-directed training library staff and local service providers in NNLM resources, providing workshops on MedlinePlus to the public at the Millers Falls Branch Library and the Gill Montague Senior Center, and by installing a sound-dampening technology pod at the Millers Falls Branch Library, where community members can work with service providers to sign up for benefits such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) or fuel assistance, virtually meet with their doctors, and access MedlinePlus and other health resources.
