Walk Yourself Fit

Beginning in June, 2024 “Walk Yourself Fit” books will be purchased and shared with communities in three locations on the Wind River Reservation, where Moby Bookmobile regularly reaches out to the community.  Along with the books, a pedometer will be provided to community members registering to take theWalk challenge.  Weekly, Bookmobile will update the list of Athletes on big posters in each location (Fort Washakie Post Office, Ethete Health Clinic, Arapaho Health Clinic).  During June-August participants will exercise according to their ability and keep a progress log [provided in the book’s appendix].  A facebook group may be created to keep the Athletes in touch with one another, and an information table at each of the two tribal powwows will be set up. Athletes will weigh-in with Indian Health Services during the program starting with a baseline weight, to ending weight. Athletes themselves will tally steps/miles/days in their log books.  A reception with the book’s author will be the culminating event, including door prizes, awards and healthful snacks.  Food and prizes will not be part of this grant budget.
