Keiki Heroes: Expanding the Reach of Translated Public Health Information for Children
“Keiki Heroes” is a community empowerment initiative from the Hawaii Public Health Institute (HIPHI) that aims to provide Hawai’i’s keiki (children) with printed activity and coloring books that encourage habits that keep them healthy and safe. The project seeks to create, translate, and distribute “Keiki Heroes” materials in languages other than English, including Pacific Islander and Asian languages. The resources produced by this project will support families with low English proficiency in understanding how to create healthy habits for their children. The project will also promote health literacy by directing participants to MedlinePlus.gov and its translated health materials.
