Public Library Partnership to Improve Access, Understanding, and Use of Health Information

The Lewes Public Library and partner nonprofit service organizations have identified communities at high risk for poor health literacy, including older adults, teens with mental health needs and/or high-risk substance use or sexual behaviors, and LGBTQ+ individuals. The Be A Health Hero initiative employs evidence-based interventions, such as events, workshops, and individual services to enhance health literacy among those at high risk.  Be a Health Hero is designed to be readily adapted to other libraries.
