This webinar will introduce key concepts of disaster recovery, including risk assessment, preparedness, response procedures, and recovery actions. Participants will leave the training with an understanding of how a disaster would physically impact their collections and how they can be “first responders” for collections salvage. Presenter Bio - Alyssa Magnone, Associate Preservation Specialist From her office in Aiken, South Carolina, Alyssa Magnone provides preservation consultations, training programs, assessments, and disaster advice to a variety of cultural heritage organizations nationwide, with a focus on the Southeast. Since joining NEDCC in 2023, she has completed preservation assessments for a variety of organizations and has led over 45 hours of webinars and presentations. Alyssa also served as the project manager for a series of hands-on emergency preparedness and salvage workshops, presented in Spring 2025. She currently serves on the Southeastern Registrars Association Board. Alyssa has over a decade's worth of experience working with art, archaeological, history, and natural history collections. She is a 2018 graduate of the Smithsonian’s Heritage Emergency & Response Training (HEART), a 2022 graduate of the Georgia Archives Institute, and completed Library Juice Academy’s Digital Curation Certificate in 2024.
