Rural Utah Community Osteoporosis Education

Our project aims to provide meaningful education regarding osteoporosis as well as providing patients with the
tools to find more information through high quality resources about this topic. We will do this by providing
outreach workshops where an evidence-based osteoporosis curriculum is presented which includes an interactive
activity researching best sources on a tablet/iPad. Curriculum will be overseen by a board-certified Geriatrician
(physician with advanced training in geriatrics). Education will be facilitated by medical students and faculty
from Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine. The project will be focused on rural communities in Utah that are
designated HPSA populations and geographic areas. This will further the mission of the NNLM of “improving the
public's access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health”.
