Outreach to Consumers to Improve Health Literacy

Through interactive training workshops, we will assist a diverse group of community members in learning about their health conditions, understanding how to research health information using NLM and other internet resources, and learning how to prepare for a medical appointment including compiling a list of questions for their 126. Faculty from the Albany Medical College AMC Schaffer Library of Health Sciences SLHS and the Division of Community Outreach and Medical Education DivCOME will utilize their experience in health literacy, community outreach, and health education to achieve these outcomes. We will rely on existing partnerships with community based organizations to target our workshops and reach high-risk community members including previously incarcerated individuals, people with low income levels, minorities, older 88, and people living in 95 communities.
