"Unpacking the Role of Preprints and Peer Review in Scholarly Inclusion" is presented by Ibraheem Ali, PhD, Sciences Data Librarian at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Ibraheem completed his bachelors in Biology at California State University Fresno, his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at UCSF and his post-doc focusing on epigenetics and transcription regulation at the J David Gladstone Institutes. In his current role as Sciences Data Librarian at UCLA, he teaches data visualization methodologies for biosciences researchers, provides advising on various issues in scholarly communication and provides data management support to research labs. His research and services focus on identifying and implementing inclusive archiving solutions for research labs and best-practices for preprints, data and methods publishing for pre-clinical and clinical researchers.

Dr. Ibraheem Ali discusses some ways researchers can engage with preprints in their field, and how that fosters a more inclusive scholarly community. We close by discussing challenges that come with the rise in preprint publishing and highlight the importance of creating a culture that fosters open scholarly dialogue to make research more transparent, accessible, and inclusive.
