Medical Library Project Award 95: Maker Expo

The HS/HSL hosted a Maker Expo - a health sciences networking and showcase event on March 6, 2018. The expo included guest speakers, hands-on technology demonstrations, and networking opportunities. Participants met and learned from academic and industry experts pushing the boundaries of health care with emerging technologies, networked with other faculty, staff, and students who are incorporating 3D printing and modeling, virtual reality, arduinos and drones, and other new tools into their work and personal lives, and attended a workshop to learn how to make 3D printable molecular models using open source tools. .

Guest speakers included Anna Young, CEO, MakerHealth, Jeffrey Hirsch, MD, Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, University of Medicine School of MEdicine, Amy Hurst, PhD, Human Centered Computing, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Bradley Hennessie, Co-founder, NextStep Robotics, and Jeff Quinn, Co-President, Director of Engineering and Development, Engineered Medical Systems, Inc.
