NN/LM PSR Membership Changes

As 2016 draws to a close, we would like to provide you with a year-end update of membership changes in the Pacific Southwest Region. Since our last membership update in June 2016, we have welcomed 8 new members to the network. Several membership changes are also noted in this article. (more…)

NN/LM Training Office (NTO) Needs Assessment Results

Thanks to everyone who responded to our request for completing this needs assessment sponsored by the NN/LM Training Office (NTO)! We would like to share highlights of the results from our region. Sixty-eight network members responded to the assessment. The largest group of respondents was composed of hospital librarians, followed by academic health sciences librarians, and then other academic library staff. California being the most populous state led the total with 72% of the responses, and Arizona placed second with 19%. Following are some of the key findings. (more…)

What’s New for 2017 MeSH!

MeSH is the National Library of Medicine’s controlled vocabulary thesaurus which is updated annually. NLM uses the MeSH thesaurus to index articles from thousands of biomedical journals for the MEDLINE/PubMed database and for the cataloging of books, documents, and audiovisuals acquired by the Library. Report on the 18th International Conference on Grey Literature in New York City

I attended the 18th International Conference on Grey Literature, held November 28-29 in New York City. The two-day meeting was hosted by the New York Academy of Medicine on the upper east side of Manhattan. The theme of the conference was Leveraging Diversity in Grey Literature. My attendance at this conference was made possible by a Professional Development Award from the National Network of Libraries, Pacific Southwest Region. (more…)
