Make 2016 the Year of Emergency and Disaster Preparedness

When setting your goals for the year ahead, why not include emergency or disaster preparedness? By tackling the preparation activities over several weeks — whether it’s a trip to the grocery or hardware store, making copies of valuable information, or agreeing on a plan with relatives—you can make be more prepared in 2016. New DOCLINE Password Security Requirements – Coming in January

Beginning January 7, 2016, DOCLINE account passwords will need to meet new complexity requirements. New Tutorial! PubMed for Nurses

A new tutorial is available from NLM: PubMed for Nurses. It covers using PICO, formulating a search, applying filters to narrow search results, using Clinical Queries, and saving search strategies and citations. It’s available from the PubMed homepage under PubMed Tutorials.

This tutorial was created specifically to help nurses efficiently find literature using PubMed. Its concise, targeted content consists of five videos with exercises to test knowledge. The tutorial was designed to be completed in less than 30 minutes.

What’s New for 2016 MeSH

The National Library of Medicine’s Technical Bulletin announces changes for MeSH, or Medical Subject Headings, which is the controlled vocabulary used to index articles for Medline/PubMed and other databases. Read about the changes, which include new publication types (Blogs, Graphic Novels, Public Service Announcements) the continuing project to add scope notes for each heading, changes in indexing for High Profile Pharmaceuticals, and new ways to search for the concept of Diagnostic Use. rac2015 The RML convened and celebrated our Regional Advisory Council (RAC) at the final meeting of the contract on December 7, 2015.

Representing diverse perspectives of almost 400 network members, the RAC has admirably carried out its charge to advise PNR’s programs and services. Themes of this meeting underscored the importance of collaboration with communities, practitioners, researchers, and developers to improve healthcare practice, to advance science and medicine, and to effectively address health disparities.
