Emergency Service Planning for Hospital Librarians

Emergency Preparedness Coordinators from each state in the Pacific NW Region, along with PNR staff, participated in the effort to create and promote service continuity plans for hospital libraries, beginning in 2008. This white paper details the NN/LM PNR’s approach to creating a plan to assist hospital librarians in emergency preparedness and inlcudes methods, photos, promotional items and sample MOUs.

    Wow! What an impressive, incredibly useful document–and so timely, too, given the news of the disasters that have hit Joplin, Missouri (one of its hospitals seems to have pretty much destroyed) and other parts of the country this week. Well done, Pacific NW Region Emergency Preparedness Coordinators! You are doing important work and ensuring the continuity of care, thereby benefitting not only libraries but all victims of disasters. And given how busy you all are with other duties your dedication your dedication to this project is all the more admirable.

    And what a nice picture of all of you! Makes me proud to be a librarian.
