Port Townsend Public Library Is Serving Up Resources For Healthy Eating!

With a 2008 Express Outreach Award, the Port Townsend Public Library is helping families and individuals learn about choices for healthy eating. Project Coordinator Carol Cahill has developed a colorful web site – – that points users to high quality health resources, such as MedlinePlus, the Healthwise Knowledgebase via Group Health, and ParentHelp123, a statewide resource that links parents to health care and food programs.

Are you planning to attend the Medical Library Association Annual meeting in DC this month? See the NLM Technical Bulletin for a list of NLM events and presentations by NIH, NLM and NN/LM staff.  Drop by Booth #115 in the exhibit hall to talk to NLM staff and attend brief update sessions on NLM resources (see NLM Theater Schedule).

From the NN/LM PNR, Patricia Devine will be presenting a poster called Enhancing Care by Connecting Librarians and Clinicians, from 3:30 – 5:00 on Tuesday, May 25.   PNR Network member Kathy Murray from the Alaska Medical Library at the University of Alaska will also be presenting Arctic Health Website: An Information Portal to Issues Affecting the Health and Well-being of Our Planet’s Northern-most Inhabitants at the same session. We hope to see you there!

Link Out Help

Wondering what’s going on with LinkOut?  Several new LinkOut “Quick Tours” (short videos) have been released, including Library Submission Utility: Entering Online Holdings Information (5 min., March 2010). For a full list of available Quick Tours, see: NLM Distance Education Programs and jump to L for LinkOut.

Remember, in the PubMed redesign, LinkOut icons don’t show up in the default Summary View. Chose Abstract View to display your library’s icons. In a list of citations, icons will appear at the bottom of each citation. When citations are viewed individually, icons appear on the upper right side of the page.
