Public Libraries and Community Partners for Wellness Literacy

Class Details

Learn ways libraries can join with community partners to provide free, interactive, and engaging wellness programs. Gail Borden Public Library District, Elgin Parks and Recreation, and Presence Saint Joseph’s Hospital show how to build valuable programs promoting health and wellness by collaborating with partners. Gail Borden Public Library District joined community network Activate Elgin to develop and launch March Into Health, an annual series of programs celebrating National Nutrition Month. Throughout March, thousands of attendees benefit from multi-generational, bilingual and multi-instructional presentations, classes, and events highlighting local wellness resources. Understand how libraries and health organizations work together at local and county level to access and share information that promotes community wellness. These ideas will help you find unique community resources, partners, and sponsors to build sustainable health literacy access, programming and initiatives.
