NNLM PSR State Pages

The NNLM Pacific Southwest Region state pages are designed to help Network members better understand health needs in their specific geographic area and facilitate gathering health data and/or statistics for the area. This demographic and health-related data can assist in planning health information outreach projects, competing for NNLM awards or NLM grants and funding, and measuring your library’s impact.

Each state page introduces the reader to the state with basic census data (from U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts and Guide to State and Local Census Geography), including its population, racial/ethnic population breakdowns, land area, and density. Links to the state government, department of health, and library websites in the left column, and links to Affordable Care Act and literacy/health literacy resources in the right column provide easy access to statewide programs, initiatives, and services.

The primary resources on the state pages, the state-specific demographic and statistical resources, are displayed in the right column. These resources link to websites, databases, and reports with state-, county-, and/or city-specific data. Many of these resources originate from the state government and state/regional organizations. For health data and statistics collected on a national level, links to federal government data portals including CDC National Center for Health Statistics, HRSA Data Warehouse, and NLM Health Statistics Subject Guide, are provided in the left column. Additionally, each state page identifies special populations within its state, such as rural, border, and/or minority populations; and provides specific resources about these groups.
