Congratulations to the Tales & Travel Memories program of the Gail Borden Public Library District in Elgin, IL for being selected as a 2017 Library of Congress Literacy Awards Program Best Practices Honoree. The Gail Borden Public Library is one of the 15 organizations honored by the Library of Congress Literacy Awards for their implementation of best practices in literacy promotion.

Funded in 2016 by GMR, the Tales & Travel Memories program takes persons living with dementia on an imaginary trip to locations across the globe using highly illustrated adult and children’s books along with other library materials. The program at http://talesandtravelmemories.com/ contains a free tool box with excursion guides, logos and resources.
