Martha Meacham Joins OET as New NNLM Project Director
The NLM Office of Engagement and Training (OET) is pleased to announce the selection of Martha Meacham as the NNLM Project Director, OET, Library Operations, with an anticipated start date of August 31, 2020.
Martha Meacham was most recently the Associate Director of the NNLM New England Region (NNLM NER) within the Lamar Soutter Library at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In this role, Martha oversaw the NNLM NER in its support of the National Library of Medicine to provide equal access to biomedical information to all and improve everyone’s ability to make informed decisions about their health. This was done by forming partnerships with libraries and other organizations, offering in-person and online training, and providing funding to libraries and organizations.
Previously Martha managed two VA Medical Center hospital libraries and was the inaugural Library Fellow in the Lamar Soutter Library at UMass Medical School. Martha has also worked with the Association of American Medical Colleges and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Martha is active in professional organizations and volunteering her time to serve librarianship. Her professional and research interests include library & librarian advocacy, marketing, instruction, and leadership development.
Martha has a B.S. in psychology and was a mental health counselor before going on to earn a Master of Library and Information Science and a Master of Arts in History from Simmons College in Boston.
