Join NNLM on April 30, 2020 for the Spring #citeNLM Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon focused on preventive health and wellness. This virtual edit-a-thon will be held all day and will engage the NNLM community in adding citations and information from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to health-related articles on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia’s health topics pages are visited a staggering 7 billion times each year, making it possibly the world’s most popular health information resource. The objective of the bi-annual #CiteNLM campaign is to improve the credibility and content of Wikipedia’s health information by using trusted NLM resources like Genetics Home Reference, MedlinePlus and PubMed.

Participants do no need to be experts to contribute to this effort. On Thursday, April 2, 2020 NNLM will offer hands-on training that covers the importance of Wikipedia, how to add NLM citations to articles, and how to participate in or host a #citeNLM Wikipedia edit-a-thon. Training attendees are welcome to host in-person events at their institutions anytime throughout the month of April.
