TedTalk – It’s time to redesign medical data

I like to watch the TedTalk’s for my dose of weekly inspiration.  TED is a small nonprofit group promoting Ideas Worth Spreading.  Originally, it started out as a conference focused on Technology, Education and Design.  The talks now also explore business, science, culture, the arts, and global issues. 

This recently released TedTalk by Thomas Goetz, Executive Editor or WIRED, teaches you about the potential of personalized medicine.  He wraps up with questions every patient should ask your doctor:

  •  Can I have my results?
  • What does this mean?
  • What choices are on the table? 
  • What’s next?

TOXNET: Your Source for Toxicology and Environmental Health Information

Improve your search skills on TOXNET, the National Library of Medicine’s databases on toxicology, environmental health, hazardous chemicals and toxic releases.  The NER is pleased to bring you guest speaker, Shannon Jordan, MPH and Chemist, from the National Library of Medicine.  This one hour webinar will increase your confidence, skill and knowledge to search TOXNET.  The program will cover TOXNET technical databases including:  ChemIDPlus, HSDB, TOXLINE, CCRIS, DART, GENETOX, IRIS, ITER.
