Meet Serene Myers, NEO’s new Evaluation Specialist

Serene Myers joins the NNLM Evaluation Office (NEO) on September 24, 2019 as the NEO Evaluation Specialist. She received her Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009. Her eight years of professional experience in evaluation and public health includes: program planning, survey design, program management and evaluation, qualitative and quantitative research, community outreach, and developing monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plans. In her previous role as Technical Officer for Training Development at the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) at the University of Washington, Serene led projects assessing the health information needs of Latino populations living in Sampson County, organizing community forums,  and assessing the risk factors for HIV among African Americans living in rural areas. She also managed the pilot evaluation and scale-up of an HIV/AIDs Assisted Partner Services (APS) program in Mozambique. Her experience developing public health training and evaluation programs to improve access to quality health care in sub-Saharan Africa and North Carolina will be of value to NNLM. Serene is experienced using REDCap, Excel, Stata and Atlas Ti for data analysis and was a Spanish Medical Interpreter in Asheville, NC. Her office will be located at the UW Health Sciences Library and her email address is sends e-mail).​
