  • 6 Things Learning 2.0 Self-Discovery Class
    Instructors: Rebecca Brown and Sharon Dennis, 12 hours MLA CE
    Learning 2.0 is an online learning program that encourages you to learn more about emerging technologies on the Web that are changing the way people, society and libraries access information and communicate with each other.
  • Mobile Apps and Devices: An Overview
    Instructors: Rebecca Brown and Sharon Dennis
    Mobile device adoption is growing at a rapid rate, and many of our library patrons and colleagues are embracing the technology. This 1 hour class will present an overview of mobile devices and apps, focusing on the Google Android and Apple mobile operating systems. We will cover the various options for mobile devices and operating systems; describe the difference between a mobile web site and app; and review some popular apps and mobile web sites for searching, mobile health, communications, productivity and fun.
  • Podcasting for Advocacy
    Instructor: Sharon Dennis, 3 hours MLA CE
    We will discuss how libraries, community-based organizations, hospitals, journal publishers, and other groups are using podcasts. You will learn how to find and recommend podcasts your users will appreciate and find useful. We will also discuss how to craft messages that work well in the podcast medium. We will cover the nuts and bolts of how to record, edit, upload, and promote a podcast of your very own.
  • RSS Feeds
    Instructors: Rebecca Brown or Sharon Dennis, 1 hour MLA CE
    Participants will: learn the definition of RSS, how to get started with RSS, view an RSS Reader showcase, learn where to look for feeds, learn about creating a Web 2.0 mashup using social bookmarking and RSS, and view a demonstration of dressing up a feed and placing it on your library's web site.
  • Social Bookmarking
    Instructor: Rebecca Brown, 1 hour MLA CE
    Participants will be: oriented to social bookmarking, a Web 2.0 tool, and will learn some ways you can use social bookmarking to make your life easier.

Join Rebecca Brown and Sharon Dennis for a one-hour session, where you can plan to follow along in your own accounts, as we review some of the basics of controlling the privacy settings for The Big Three.
