Big Data for Healthcare Providers

Big data is not just for researchers.  Increasingly, healthcare providers are turning to clinical data analytics technology to streamline administrative processes, boost care quality and cut readmission rates.  CIO magazine recently highlighted several real-life cases of healthcare organizations that are using big data analytics to improve outcomes and reduce costs.  One of the organizations mentioned is Intermountain Healthcare in Utah.  In another example, the University of North Carolina Health Care system is using big data to improve the quality of care and reporting data for cancer screening.  Future plans include analyzing data for medicine compliance and the number of clinic visits to predict bad health outcomes.  /rv
