On April 28th, 2015 MedlinePlus (http://medlineplus.gov/) and MedlinePlus en español (http://medlineplus.gov/spanish) released a completely redesigned site with a fresh look and feel. The new version of MedlinePlus and MedlinePlus en español uses responsive design for ease of use on any device, whether that is a desktop monitor or mobile touchscreen. Responsive pages automatically change their layout to fit your screen. See the NLM announcement page for more details.
NN/LM MAR would like to invite you to a special webinar to review the redesigned site on May 13th, 2015 from 1:00-2:00 PM EST. Lydia Collins, Consumer Health Coordinator (NN/LM MAR) will talk about the changes and provide reassurance that although MedlinePlus has a new look, the content is the same and just as reliable!
The session will be recorded and information for registering is provided below. Please register even if you are unable to attend the live session as a special message regarding the availability of the recording will be provided to all those who register.

The deadline for medical librarians in the MAR and SE/A Regions to participate in the Group Licensing Initiative’s (GLI) Spring 2015 Offer, organized by the Health Sciences Library Association of New Jersey (HSLANJ), has been extended from April 24 to May 8 (firm deadline).
More than 500 resources from 12 vendors are available, and at a cost savings of 15-70% off regular pricing, through the leveraging of group purchasing power.
Group Licensing is a creative solution to the escalating cost of high-quality electronic resources—medical journals, books and databases. More than 120 hospitals and medical facilities regularly participate in the HSLANJ Group Licensing Initiative, known as the first consortium of its kind in the nation.
For more information and to participate, please contact HSLANJ Executive Director Robert T. Mackes at 570-856-5952, email@example.com and/or check www.hslanj.org.
The HSLANJ Group Licensing Initiative is funded in part with Federal funds from the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, under Contract No. HHS-N-276-2011-00003-C with the University of Pittsburgh, Health Sciences Library System. This project is also funded in part with Federal funds from the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, under Contract No. HHS-N-276-2011-00004-C with the University of Maryland Baltimore.

In May 2014, the National Library of Medicine posted a Request for Information (RFI) asking for ideas on how the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) (http://nnlm.gov) can more effectively and efficiently provide equal access to biomedical information and improve an individual’s access to health information. Based on the feedback from nearly 50 respondents and a review of historical data related to the program, NLM will change the award mechanism for the 2016-2021 Regional Medical Libraries’ cycle from contracts to cooperative agreements. This type of funding mechanism will allow NLM to participate more fully in the work of the RMLs and better coordinate collaborative programs and projects. A Notice of Intent was published on the NIH Grants & Funding site on January 22, 2015.
Join NLM in a teleconference to hear about the responses to the RFI and learn about Cooperative Agreements:
- Tuesday, January 27, 2015 / 4 pm (ET)

National Medical Librarians Month gives information professionals an opportunity to market their services and highlight their contributions to research, education, and improved patient outcomes. MAR wanted to acknowledge the valuable work our medical librarians do by sharing a library’s accomplishments, programs, or value-added services with others.
Congratulations to Excela Health Latrobe Hospital in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Their entry was randomly selected in the MAR National Medical Librarians Month contest to receive an award for registration and airfare to MLA 2015!
