Grand Challenges Awardee on Social Good Data
The Gates Foundation just announced the recipients of their latest Grand Challenges Explorations in Global Health competition, and one of the categories was in “social good data” – http://www.grandchallenges.org/about/Newsroom/Pages/GCERound11Grants.aspx
One of the winning projects is below, and will probably be of interest to people interested in crisis mapping, social media, and information management and organization.
Gisli Olafsson of NetHope Inc. in the U.S. will work to improve humanitarian information management in emergencies, such as after a natural disaster. In a crisis, information needs to be quickly and reliably delivered to the right place at the right time.
