Our electronic resources technician position (part-time) is open at the Medical Library at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Assists the Library Director and the Assistant Librarian by keeping track of the Library’s collection of electronic resources, including but not limited to: Pubmed Linkout, e-journals, e-books, online mixed resource packages, Docline’s Serhold listing, and the master list of Library journals on Excel. In addition to adding and deleting resources as appropriate, the employee troubleshoots connection problems with vendors and communicates with tech support staff. In addition, the employee assists in
processing incoming and outgoing interlibrary loan requests; photocopies, scans or downloads articles or pages from books as requested by SBMC physicians and staff; answers the telephone, takes accurate messages and greets and directs visitors appropriately; processes returned books; reshelves books, journals and audiovisual items; and assists in keeping the Library neat.
The Medical Staff is comprised of more than 1,600 physicians in 100 medical and surgical specialties and there are over 3,400 employees. As a teaching institution, we have nine residency programs and one fellowship in Mammography and a shared Nephrology fellowship with Newark Beth Israel. There are a total of 154 residents and fellows.
