Supporting Systematic Reviews: A Two-Day Workshop

The D. Samuel Gottesman Library of Albert Einstein College of Medicine is hosting “Systematic Reviews: A Two-Day Workshop.” This course is an introduction to the systematic review process in general and an in-depth, hands-on simulation of the librarian’s role in that process in particular.

Instructors: Jan Glover (Education Services Librarian, Yale University) and Karen Odato (Research and Education Librarian, Dartmouth College)

This free workshop is certified for 10 MLA CE credits.

Space is limited to 10 attendees.

This is a two-day workshop. You must be able to attend both sessions.

At the end of this course you will be able to:

  • identify the steps in the systematic review process
  • identify standards for systematic review development
  • identify databases/grey literature sources
  • formulate search strategies for multiple databases using both controlled vocabularies and text words
  • utilize project management tools to keep track of search strategies and citations
  • evaluate and select study design hedges
  • execute a search in PubMed
  • track and organize results
  • draft the search methodology for publication
