TI Award: Providing Access: Digital Nursing Resources Past and Present

Technology Improvement Award: Providing access: digital nursing resources past and present to Graham Hospital Association Medical Staff Library in the amount of $4,969. We will have the ability to deliver interlibrary loan requests in a timely and efficient manner to all libraries requesting health care related materials that accept email and fax delivery. We have interlibrary loaned requests as close as across town and as far as England. In regard to the historical component of our project, our focus starts with Graham Hospital School of Nursing alumni, students & faculty, the hospital, our local community and county and broadens to the state of Illinois, National Library of Medicine and the world. There will be interest at the nursing research level focusing on the history of nursing in a hospital based diploma RN program and the development of the nursing profession through the past century. We plan to record the evolution of a rural diploma RN program through alumni interviews and digitizing historical documents, while providing efficient interlibrary loan delivery through scanning and emailing requested articles.
