One Bag of Popcorn

A bag of popcorn burning in a microwave at the Kansas State University Hale Library in Manhattan, Kansas, set off the library’s sprinkler system a couple of months ago. As Rebecca Brown, Kansas Outreach and Technology Liaison (NN/LM MCR), stated in an email message, “a good example of a not-so-obvious cause of a disaster.” Thanks to Char Simser and Renee Gates for permission to post these pictures.

“What About the Library” Sets Sights on Virginia’s Tidewater Region

“What About the Library” will be presented tomorrow at the Hampton Public Library. Guest speakers include Teresa Blakeslee, Coordinator for the Peninsula Medical Reserve Corps, and Jenifer Lupin, Virginia Department of Health. A full report will be made available after the meeting.

“What About the Library” Rolls on to Christiansburg, Virginia

The second “What About the Library” regional conference will be presented at the Christiansburg Public Library on Monday, December 6th. Keynote speaker is Neal Turner, Montgomery County Emergency Services Coordinator, and one of the first on the scene of the Virginia Tech shooting in April 2007.
