Link Your Community with Health Information: Resources for Community Health Workers

Are you a Community Health Worker (CHW) interested in finding trustworthy health information and supporting community members in using this information? Are you interested in engaging with other Community Health Workers to discuss health information resources? Link Your Community with Health Information: Resources for Community Health Workers is a course that will support these interests. During this 5-week course, CHW's will learn about finding and using trustworthy health information for their own use or to share with their communities. Through the use of weekly discussion board activities, CHWs will have the opportunity to discuss how the concepts they learn in the class relate to their role as a CHW and learn how other CHWs plan to use what they learn in practice. Participants will also learn about health literacy and how it relates to the social determinants of health. In addition to finding health information, This course will highlight communication techniques related to health information and health literacy such as motivational interviewing, teach back, and community empowerment.
