A Bird's Eye View of Health Data Standards

This course will help students to understand the big picture of health data standards and how they are used, including relevant National Library of Medicine (NLM) products and services.  

This on-demand course will take approximately one hour to complete.

Objectives: 

The objectives of this course are for students to be able to:

  • define and explain the function of electronic health records (EHRs), interoperability and health data standards within Health IT systems, and
  • identify the application of the most highly used or influential medical terminologies.
