Session Description: Are you interested in health literacy? Are you unsure of what types of health literacy programs exist or what resources are available to you? This session will discuss the NNLM program Engage for Health, a community health education “program in a box” that you can offer. Engage for Health teaches community members how to effectively communicate with their health care providers. Program materials are freely available for use by libraries, community and faith based agencies, public health organizations or others who promote health literacy in their community. Available materials include presentation slides with speaker notes, a role-play exercise, pre-post evaluation tool, and marketing materials. This presentation will also emphasize the importance of public health and public library partnerships in engaging the community around the topic of health literacy.
In this series of webinars, NNLM will host a guest speaker to discuss a health information topic relevant to the public health workforce. Held on the second Wednesday of every other month at 2:00pm EST, these 45 minute sessions aim to provide the public health workforce with new resources, skills to locate high quality health information or knowledge of health information topics.
