Going Virtual in 2018

Class Details

This in-person class will explore virtual libraries. Elizabeth Lorbeer will give a 90-minute presentation on her born-digital library at Western Michigan’s new medical school, the Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine. In the afternoon, we will hear an update about eTreadwell, the virtual library at Massachusetts General Hospital, and we will hear about Knowledge Information Services at the Veterans Affairs New England Healthcare System.

This class will address the professional development needs of hospital librarians in the New England Region. Many librarians are facing the reduction or elimination of physical library space. We will explore the how-to's of creating virtual library services.

  1. Increased awareness of the tools and resources for needed for creating a virtual library.
  2. Increased confidence in describing the process of creating a virtual library.
  3. Improved ability in describing current trends affecting hospital libraries.
