Presentation Summary: Once you’re familiar with the essentials of instructional design, what next? In this webinar, we will explore advanced instructional design skills and settings, including in-depth goal analysis, analyzing learners and contexts for the best learning outcomes, designing instruction for online learning, and addressing learner motivation and performance problems. Anyone who trains, teaches or instructs can learn more about how to use these skills to create effective learning opportunities.

Presenter Bio: Karen Viars is the Humanities and Science Fiction Librarian at the Georgia Institute of Technology Library, where she serves as liaison to the School of Literature, Media and Communication. In addition to an Information Science master’s degree, she holds a master’s in Instructional Design, and developed sales training for a Fortune 500 company before becoming a librarian.

Class Overview

Beyond the SEA is a webinar series from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern/Atlantic Regional Medical Library (NNLM SEA). Speakers cover different topics of interest to health science librarians, health care practitioners, librarians, and other health focused groups in the region. Topics include new and updated National Library of Medicine (NLM) resources, RML Awardee presentations on their research and outreach programs, Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Information Resources, Electronic Health Records, and many other topics related to health sciences and health care. All sessions are online webinars using WebEx, which allows for live phone conversation and online chat. Sessions are recorded, closed captioned, and made available for later viewing.
