Summary: EPAs and the idea of Competency Based Medical Education are generating a lot of attention from all aspects of medicine. This webinar will include an introduction to the topics, discuss opportunities they provide for librarians to engage with learning at hospital and academic medical centers, and provide insight into how our profession is pursuing engagement with the medical education community on these matters.

Presenter Bio: Joey Nicholson is the Education and Curriculum Librarian at NYU School of Medicine, working with students, staff, and faculty to integrate information and technology literacy throughout undergraduate medical education. In addition to his role at NYU, he is a PhD Candidate at Maastricht University, School of Health Professions Education focusing on programmatic assessment of evidence-based medicine in undergraduate medical education.

Upon completion of the Beyond the SEA Webinar, each participant will receive 1.0 hour of continuing education credit awarded by the Medical Library Association. Certificates will be available electronically following completion of the online survey supplied at the end of the webinar.

Beyond the SEA is a webinar series from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Southeastern/Atlantic Regional Medical Library (NNLM SEA). Speakers cover different topics of interest to health science librarians, health care practitioners, librarians, and other health focused groups in the region. Topics include new and updated National Library of Medicine (NLM) resources, RML Awardee presentations on their research and outreach programs, Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Information Resources, Electronic Health Records, and many other topics related to health sciences and health care. All sessions are online webinars using WebEx, which allows for live phone conversation and online chat. Sessions are recorded, closed captioned, and made available for later viewing.
