Community Engagement Toolkit

This toolkit is intended to provide a collection of resources, methods, and best practices for librarians participating in engagement activities in their communities. The sections contained in this guide represent some of the core skills and knowledge involved in community engagement, as well as examples of programs that have succeeded in utilizing the input and participation of community members.

This Community of Practice is here for you and most importantly used and built by you. We will continually add trusted resources as you bring them to our attention and organize them in a manner that makes it easy for you to access as needed.

This site provides educational resources for both the general public and mental health professionals, including virtual educational sessions and previously recorded sessions. There is also a referral portal to locate a local care provider/member of the Association of LBGTQ+ Psychiatrists.

This class is designed to assist librarians and others who work with diverse populations in locating health information. The resources presented are selected for their emphasis on providing culturally relevant information in the preferred language of the population. Background information on refugees and immigrants in the U.S. and their unique health issues will be presented.
