Book Selections and Health Resources: Disability Health
Americans With Disabilities Act
One in 4 U.S. adults - 61 million Americans - has a disability that impacts major life activities. Some people are born with one, some people acquire one as a result of an illness or injury, and some people develop one or more as they age. The NNLM Reading Club celebrates the Americans with Disabilities Act, signed into law on July 26, 1990, which prohibits discrimination in employment, transportation, public accommodations, commercial facilities, telecommunications, and state and local government services. How can we help your library celebrate, too?
