NNLM SCR Clinical Health Information Coordinator

The University of North Texas Health Science Center Library (UNTHSC) invites applications for the position of Clinical Health Information Coordinator for the South Central Region of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM SCR). We are looking for an energetic, creative, innovative, and service-oriented individual interested in being part of a collaborative team that works together to improve access to and sharing of clinical, biomedical and health information resources, with an emphasis on resources produced by the National Library of Medicine.

Funded by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) through a cooperative agreement, UNTHSC Library serves as the regional medical library headquarters for the South Central Region, one of eight regions in the NNLM nationwide program. NNLM SCR comprises Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Louisiana. The NNLM mission is to ensure health professionals, researchers, the public health workforce, patients, families and the general public have access to quality health information.

The Clinical Health Information Coordinator has primary responsibility for designing and evaluating outreach and education programs aimed at health professionals within clinical settings and library staff working in hospital libraries, academic institutions, public libraries, universities and colleges/universities with programs in the health sciences, health and science education. Training goals will include increasing audience awareness of clinical data imbedded in electronic health records, learning health systems, clinical data life cycle, and the role of data quality in patient safety. Training health practitioners and nurses in the use of NLM resources and nursing EBP tools will also be a priority for the Coordinator.

The position involves travel that will include site visits, exhibits and teaching, primarily within the states served by NNLM SCR. Depending on budget, the incumbent travels 20-25% of the time.

Education and Experience: Master’s degree in library or information science and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range: $53,000 - $60,000. This position is a full-time, staff position and is currently funded through April 30, 2020. 

This position will be one of a team of four Coordinators reporting to the NNLM SCR Executive Director. 

This is an office-based position, without an option for telecommuting, employed by and located at the Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas and will require travel to target areas and national meetings.
