PubMed for the Rest of Us: Searching the Medical Literature for the Non-Expert

Course Description

This class covers basic searching; easy techniques for developing complex search strategies; PubMed's special features, such as Limits and the Clipboard; the Journals Database; the Single Citation Matcher; and MyNCBI. It also covers how to obtain full-text copies of articles. (3 MLA CE)

Objectives

Learn how to search MEDLINE using PubMed. This includes:

Basic Searching
Using Limits and field searching
The Single Citation Matcher and the Journals Database
How to order full-text copies of the article
Save and store searches using MyNCBI

Course Materials

Continuing Education

Upon successful completion of this class, each participant will receive 3 hours of continuing education credit awarded by the Medical Library Association (MLA). This course is on the list of approved courses for the MLA Consumer Health Specialization Program (http://www.mlanet.org/education/chc/index.html).
