Presenter: Stacey Arneson, Head, Disaster Information Management Research Center (DIMRC)
Join us for a presentation and a question/answer session from Stacey Arnesen, Head, Disaster Information Management Research Center (DIMRC) in the Specialized Information Services Division of the National Library of Medicine. DIMRC is a new center at NLM that is exploring ways in which NLM, other libraries and librarians can assist with disaster preparedness, response, and recovery through the collection, organization, and dissemination of disaster health information; development of innovative tools and resources for emergencies and disasters; and disaster informatics and communication research. Ms. Arnesen came to NLM over 20 years ago as a MeSH indexer in the Bibliographic Services Division of Library Operations. In 1987 she joined the Specialized Information Services Division and worked on the DART database, HIV/AIDS information services, and headed the TOXNET and the SIS web teams. She also coordinates the Central American Network for Disaster Health Information and is a member of the Bethesda Hospitals' Emergency Preparedness Partnership. Ms. Arnesen received her AB degree from Smith College and an MS in Neurobiology and Behavior from Cornell University.
