Who to Call on for What
The NN/LM SE/A staff have been slightly reorganized with the new contract. Most of what we do hasn’t changed, but with more Network members and more things to do we have found it necessary to re-allocate tasks.
Network Access
Beth Wescott is our network access coordinator. Her job is to assist with the recruitment of network members and manage our resource sharing and communications program. Beth is responsible for DOCLINE®, Serials Holdings, and the Institutions database training and consultation, blogged SEA Currents and membership materials.
Outreach to health professionals and health science librarians
Our two outreach coordinators each manage activities in their assigned states. Throughout the region, the assigned coordinator provides training on PubMed and other NLM databases, as well as on public health workforce issues and consumer health information needs. The coordinator also exhibits at state and local meetings, provides consultations, assists with grant information and develops and monitors subcontracts.
Toni Yancey’s states are Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia. Toni manages the national exhibits program and is the lead person on grant promotion.
Sheila Snow-Croft’s states are Maryland, the District of Columbia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition, Sheila will be responsible for our overall education program, informing us about changes to NLM’s databases, keeping our education materials up-to-date, and developing new ways to deliver content.
Consumer Health Outreach
Terri Ottosen manages our consumer health outreach program, developing new ideas and initiatives in that area. Her work involves public librarians and non-minority consumer groups. Terri monitors consumer outreach activity in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Washington, DC.
The community outreach coordinator, currently an open position, works with minority community groups and faith-based associations. The coordinator monitors outreach activities in Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
