The NN/LM Southeastern/Atlantic (SE/A), as part of its outreach program, is accepting applications from SE/A network members to promote the awareness of and use of information and technology at conferences for health professionals, librarians or health consumers.
Potential Projects
- Technology fair with speakers and exhibitors directed at health professionals in your institution, state or region;
- Technology fair with speakers and exhibitors directed at librarians in state or region;
- Technology fair with speakers and exhibitors directed at health consumers in your city or state or, directed at a target health consumer group;
- Cybercafes at meetings of state or regional health professionals or consumers where demonstrations/training sessions of NLM products or state resources are highlighted;
- Conferences promoting scholarly communication or e-publishing.

Eligibility Requirements
- Full or affiliate SE/A members in Alabama, District of Columbia, Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the U.S. Virgin Islands;
- Partnerships with university departments, community based organizations, library organizations or state health agencies are greatly encouraged.
Application Process
- Eligible members can apply for up to $5,000/project. Funding will cover meeting expenses to include: honoraria and travel for speakers, publicity and promotion activities, equipment rental, communication costs (postage, phone costs, etc.), and facility rental. Please explain any costs not listed above. No additional food costs are allowed. No indirect costs are allowed for this award. Provide an explanation for other costs needed not listed above.
- Applications will be accepted from December 6, 2007 – January 15, 2008 for projects scheduled after May 1, 2008
- At least three awards are planned with year 3 funding.
- Network members can submit a maximum of one proposal per year.

Reporting Requirements
A project report is due at the SE/A office within 15 days after the completion of the activity. Reports should include a narrative summary of the project including the following: a narrative summary of the program, the attendance and attendees; final list of vendors and exhibitors if appropriate; copy of the final program; description of promotion and publicity activities; description of any barriers or problems; narrative summary of any conference evaluation(s) done with copies of evaluation forms used and a summary of evaluations; and summary of budget expenditures.
Selection and Period of Performance
Criteria for selection include: feasibility of plan to meet project objectives and reach target audience, community to be reached, and project support provided by host institution and its partners.
Fullest consideration will be given to those applications received by January 15, 2008 for conferences planned for the period July 1, 2008 - June 30, 2009
