General Resources
- American Library Association - The ALA office for IT Policy, in partnership with the Info Institute at Florida State University has developed the State Statistics Module for library advocacy.
- County Health Rankings- The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is collaborating with the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute - with local representation from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Family Health Administration - to develop Health Rankings for each states's counties. The website provides access to the 50 state reports, ranking each county within state according to its health outcomes and the multiple health factors that determine a county's health. A goal of the Rankings is to mobilize community leaders outside the public health sector to take action and invest in programs and policy changes that address barriers to good health and help residents lead healthier lives.
- FamiliesUSA - State Expansions Resource Center - As the number of uninsured Americans grows, states across the country are looking for ways to expand affordable, quality health coverage to more people. These state efforts take different forms—expanding public programs, creating entirely new programs, or combining both approaches—but they all seek to make coverage more affordable and available.
- Minority Health - Sponsored by the Kaiser Family Foundation, this resource provides links to Foundation reports as well as state-by-state statistical information.
- National Association of County & City Health Officials - Big Cities Health Inventory, 2007: The Health of Urban USA provides city-to-city comparisons of leading measures of health, presenting a broad overview of the health of the 54 largest metropolitan areas in the U.S. Produced with funding from NACCHO’s Metro Forum, this report is the fifth edition of a compendium of health status indicators designed to provide usable information for evidence-based decision making.
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services - Bureau of Health Professions - Health Professional Shortage Areas - This resource from the HRSA Bureau of Health Professions defines the health professional shortage area designation criteria and offers database searching by state and county.
- Woman's Health USA 2007 - Women's Health USA provides data and information on emerging issues and trends in women's health, racial and ethnic, sex/gender, and socioeconomic disparities are highlighted where possible.
