New Database: Substance Registration System
Substance Registration System, http://fdasis.nlm.nih.gov, is a new web site sponsored by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This database provides access to the FDA Unique Ingredient Identifier (UNII) assigned to substances by the FDA Substance Registration System.
The overall purpose of the joint FDA/USP Substance Registration System (SRS) is to support health information technology initiatives by generating unique ingredient identifiers (UNIIs) for substances in drugs, biologics, foods, and devices.
Links to the NLM ChemIDplus and the Drug Information Portal are provided for most drugs. The database is updated weekly with data provided by FDA.
