Final Historical Preservation and Digitization Award Recipient Announced
The NN/LM SCR is happy to announce the third and final recipient of the Historical Preservation and Digitization Award.
Institution: Tulane University, Rudolph Matas Library of the Health Sciences, New Orleans, LA
Project Title: Early Medical Journalism of Louisiana: A pilot project for the preservation and sharing of nineteenth-century medical publications of Louisiana
Principal Investigators: Mary Holt, Barbara Vola and Neville Prendergast
Summary: The focus of this project is on the digitization of the Charity Hospital Reports. New Orleans Charity Hospital had a rich history serving of the poor in New Orleans. Charity Hospital Reports dating back to 1842 will be digitized. These reports contain morbidity and mortality information for New Orleans as well as disease statistics and information about physicians in the area.
Congratulations to the Rudolph Matas Library of the Health Sciences as well as our previously announced recipients. These projects will add access to historical treasures from the South Central Region.
