New NLM Bioethics Information Web Page
NLM has recently introduced a Bioethics Information Resources web page. Although bioethics information has been available in the NLM databases for years, this new consolidated electronic resource will assist users to quickly find the bioethics information within databases as well as linking to other Federal government and outside resources. Examples of featured resources include:
Bioethics-filtered search boxes for PubMed and the NLM Catalog
Links to other NLM databases or information resources such as Genetics Home Reference, MedlinePlus and the NLM Gateway
Links to NIH’s Bioethics Resources on the Web and other bioethics-related Web sites such as the National Bioethics Advisory Committee and the Kennedy Institute of Ethics’ National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature (NRCBL) at Georgetown University
The literature of bioethics focuses on the rights, relationships, and duties of healthcare professionals and their patients; the social impact of biomedical, behavioral, and genetic research and technology; and the development of public policy for both the delivery of health care and the conduct of research. As a cross-disciplinary subject of interest to health sciences, social sciences, law, philosophy, religion, and the popular media, bioethics relates to the mission of every institute and center at the National Institutes of Health.
