Biomedical Publishing 101: A Webinar
On Tuesday, December 7, 2010, the NN/LM Midcontental Region hosted a free webinar, Biomedical Publishing 101. This webinar was created by the Chicago Collaborative, a joint partnership of librarians, publishers and editors. The NN/LM Pacific Southwest and the South Central Regions and the directors of biomedical libraries in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah (the “Four Corners” directors) promoted this webinar and made it accessible to members of their respective regions.
This 90-minute webinar provided an opportunity to learn about the publishing cycle of biomedical journals, both in print and online. The complexities of publishing, in a world of rapidly changing delivery formats and devices were explored, including the publishing challenges and opportunities posed by each. Jean Shipman, Director of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library of the University of Utah and the MidContinental Region Director, moderated the session which was presented by John Tagler of the Association of American Publishers, Inc.
